Why am I not getting results?
There could be many reasons. The obvious ones are not exercising frequently & consistently enough with enough volume (meaning multiple sets) or following a healthy eating plan of real food.
It could be a history of thyroid issues set off by chronic fatigue, poor stress management, hormone imbalance (which relates to thyroid also), chemical exposure, heavy metal toxicity, parasites, methylation issues or other genetic reasons, however, before you start running off and getting tested for millions of things which can be quite costly & sometimes ineffective, let’s look at what’s going on in that big beautiful brain of yours shall we…
Why do we quit or go looking for the next magic pill when we do not get the desired outcome in the time frame we wanted?
I have trained & prioritised healthy eating consistently for 15 years. Before that I did not value my health (or had no knowledge of how to) & was skinny fat but I knew I should value it. I did not want to be dealing with lifestyle related diseases in my 40s & beyond so it was a change to my value system I never regretted. I may not get it right all the time but I try.
You may value kindness but do not always feel like being kind at times but your "go to" or gut instinct is to resolve an issue with kindness in the forefront of your mind. This is the same with valuing health. It is easy saying no to unhealthy food because your health is more important.
When your values are strong your choices are easy. Don't be a fence sitter with your health....
So why do we quit when we do not see results?
The answer, put simply is; we do not value our health enough.
If we truly did, we would not quit. We would push on & when we focus on health becoming a deep core value we discover lasting change & the results will come I promise you that.
A value is the core of who we are or what defines us. If when we get disappointed, bored, unmotivated or are time poor & quit this “health kick” we are actually saying to ourselves “I do not value my health enough” which is very sad as without our health we have nothing.
If I told you that you can change your deep value system so that you have a strong desire to choose healthy even after years of sugar abuse & emotional eating would that be of interest to you?
Of course it would as we do not deserve to be bound by sugar & food addiction! It takes making a consistent effort over a period of time. According to neuroscientist Caroline Leaf it takes 63 days to turn something into a deep value that will stick with you for the rest of your life & as a result your influence will impact the life of future generations to come as you pass your value system on to your children.
So forget the scales, forget the mirror, don’t quit & make healthy as the challenge that sticks. You will be surprised at how your convictions can change after repeatedly choosing well.
